             Let's now travel to Russia, where Jews are under the same, if not even more intense persecution by non-Jews, which is also based solely on the idea that these Jews may become an economic threat. By 1881, this persecution is becoming excruciatingly painful for the Jews.
             The reigning tzar, Alexander III, has enacted oppressive policies against the Jews. One example of this would be the denied police protection for Jews residing in the countryside. As a result of this policy, Jews begin flocking to the city and seeking out every way possible to overthrow the tzar.
             The openly anti-Semitic policies adopted by Russia and many other eastern European countries are posing serious economical, political, and spiritual dilemmas for the Jews.
