Coastal Plains

             The lowland area stretches3200 kms from Cape Cod, along the Atlantic coast, including Florida then into Mexico
             The average elevation is less than 200 feet above sea level .The surface is mostly flat or bumpy. More than half of the Coastal Plains is less than 30 meters above sea level.
             The plains contain many bogs and marshes. In the past, the land was sinking it allowed water from the ocean to seep into the plains. These creating transportation routes and agricultural land, and all the swamps are important factors to shellfish and other aquatic life forms.
             Climate varies greatly in this region. It has cold snowy winters and hot humid summers.
