Fashion designers are making organic cotton a selling point. And that makes problems for growers as they try to meet the demand.
             Katharine Hamnett has been selling denim jeans with a difference, it's not the style that is unusual but the material they are made of, it's organic cotton. They're £15 more expensive than normal jeans.
             She is among the first designers who use organic cotton, while they in US has been working on it for two years. Esprit has plans of producing all their jeans, t-shirts and sweatshirts in organic cotton by 1996.
             The rising need for organic cotton, has grown into were it has become a problem, cause organic cotton is very rare. Though the production has quadrupling most years since four years ago where it was nonexistent, it only accounts for about 15000 tonnes of 18.2 billion.
             The reason why the fashion world has grown an interest is because environmentalism has become fashion.
             But it's not a small thing for the farmers to go organic. The methods they have to use are from the time before WW2, and there's also a bug-problem, since they can't use chemicals.
             It's maybe because the death is silent and mostly invisible, that pesticides in some decades has been used with conviction and good conscience. In meanwhile the consequences of the hidden monstrosities becomes harder and harder to handle: destroyed fields, poisoned ground water, sickly culture plants, fruits of a poorer quality and new pests.
             Still more people are conscious about, that the environment is endangered and asks therefore themselves, about that they at least can create some peaceful and harmonic oasis in their own garden? Can one not grow flowers, herbs, vegetables and fruit ecologic and not cause a poison war? On that you can only make one clearly answer: it is possible.
