             Ever since the dawn of time, there have been rivalries. They are fierce competitions that exists between two, unstoppable and irrepressible powerhouses. This was the case in point when Montclair waged its private civil war against it's arch rival, Montclair Kimberly Academy. The stage was set for an unforgettable battle between two untested but extremely confident teams.
             It was a brisk forty-five degrees when the girls took the field. Headed standouts, Nicki Cozzolino, Sydney Richards and fellow senior, Lauren Kessler, played. In the early stages of the game, MKA held a slim 3-2 lead. MKA headed by a tremendous and intimidating defense was easily controlling the ball. However, out of nowhere, the girls began to literally,"pick it." Every ground ball was theirs'. Every face-off was Montclair's. They took the lead after Nicki Cozzolino's second goal of the afternoon.
             After a hard fought third quarter, the game was deadlocked at 5-5. The stage was set for an unforgettable and incredulous finish. MKA took the lead on a bounce, which was shot from the top of the key that just trickled by Sydney Richards. After a number of dismal shots off the MKA net, the game ended with Nicki Cozzolino being robbed point blank by MKA's goaltender.
             Sophomore standout, Delyse Hamsen, said, "It was a tough loss to swallow." However, with much needed experience and a hard fought loss under their belt, this year's girls' team looks forward to contend for the State Championship.
