Ten Summoner's Tales, huh? It's a good albulm, and to tell you the truth, I actually listened to it while I wrote this thinking piece. It created a different setting than I am used to. Anyways, to get to the point I was uncertain if you meant who Sting is in dialog with or more with what he is dialog with. There are so many people that Sting could be speaking in association with that it would be impossible to name one. But I think you are hinting to us. Based on the readings that were associated with this assignment, I'm going to guess and say that Sting and Condorcet are in dialouge. Antoine sure new his stuff about the progress of the human mind. He was a rebel who spoke out during the French Revolution and so his ideas were considered rebellious. Anyways, Antoine killed himself when he was in his cell after he had worked on his piece (Sketches for a Picture of the Progress of the Human Mind). He "lost faith" on the system and I would say the progress that humanity!
             is making. Everything was in bloody chaos, I mean the time of his intellectual prime was in the Reign of Terror. Where were things going? He was imprisoned fr speaking his views which could be considered to have much truth within them. You could say that he lost his sense of direction because there were other alternatives to suicide in his case. "He also was a religious doubter an outspoken adversary of the Church" as the article on him reads. I think that Condorcet and Sting both know the good and were witnessing the bad.
             I think that it would also be appropriate to talk about what Sting is speaking about, because he (I would assume) is speaking from a more modernized perspective. All the things that humanity are "progressing" on today, by argument, could be considered less that ideal.
