             In the lawyer's field Hispanic lawyers made up only 1.8 percent of the associates in 1996 and at the 250 largest law firms 0.9 percent of the partners were Hispanics in the United States. In the year1997 only 4.7 percent of the federal courts were district judges and 3.6 percent of appellate judges were Hispanics.
