Liberty, to me, means the power to do what we please or the state of having freedom. Having the liberty gives us the privilege to do what we please and having the right to make our own choice. Does having liberty mean that we can really do something beyond normal limits? No, even though we might have freedom that does not mean we do not have boundaries. We all still have to live by some rules in our life and without rules we wouldn't have a civilization.
Having liberty is important because it makes all of us equal. Everyone is equal in the eyes of liberty, there are no race or gender issues. Without liberty in the United States we wouldn't be how we are today. The United States is called the land of the free because we have freedom, we are lucky to have rights because there are some nations that don't have the right of choice. Liberty may not seem that important because we all take it for granted, but we should all remember that men have fought, shed blood, and died for us to be free today.
If we didn't have liberty today, slavery would probably still exist. Liberty has given women the right to vote and run for government jobs. We all need liberty in order to live a life that lets us have the right to make our own choices and speak our mind. Liberty is what makes us free, without it the United States probably could not have risen to the glory we posses today. It has united us as one nation and though there is still racism and sexism today, we are better off than before. In conclusion, what liberty means to me is everything, because without it I don't know where I would be today.
