They are less violent than the Latin Kings, La Familia, or Dominican's Don't Play, but have been perpetrating violent acts with increased frequently in the past year. The Netas are presently the subject of a Federal racketeering investigation in NYC, which involves Murders, Attempted Murders, Assaults and other acts of violence.
Netas usually have an affiliation and alliance with the Latin Kings and other similar street gangs.
Strangely enough, some jurisdictions have reported the Netas are a "farm club" for the Latin Kings. Younger, less violent gang members must prove themselves worthy
of a life of crime and violence in the Netas before they are to be crowned a Latin King.
Netas are extremely active in community service programs, inner city discussion groups and displaying a positive image as a group. Their membership, which is presently expanding out of the east coast area, ranges in the tens of thousand sworn members.
The truth remains Netas are comprised mostly of criminals with an emphasis on drug dealing but pose a particular problem since they have much community support.
Neta Association, which in the present is predominantly Hispanic in membership, are a particular threat since they allow members from all ethnicities to join their ranks.
They are getting more powerful by the day. We, as law enforcement officials, must document their membership, monitor their action and aggressively enforce all laws against this gang!
NETA chapters/groups are usually structured as follows:
-2nd in command is a Vice President
-3rd is a Secretary who records information from meetings
and performs administrative duties.
-4th is a Treasurer who collects the dues and handles funds,
bank accounts and disbursements of money.
