Turner has refined his Cannibalism theory over the years, pointing out that seven identifying characteristics in bones must be present before cannibalism can be proven. These include cut marks that indicate flesh was carefully cleaned from the bones, and bones broken into smaller pieces that show signs of "pot polish", bone ends that have been worn smooth by being stirred in a pot. The cannibalism theory seems more practical than the Great Drought theory.
