Welfare

             There are m any reasons why welfare doesn't really work, and so solutions have been put forth. Workfare is a proposed solution that some argue is comparable to both U.S. slavery, (i.e. black slaves in American history) and Hitler's reign. When these accusations were made, it was due to the fact that people who are involved in the workfare program are working for less money than they could get from welfare. They also must be away from home and their children, meaning that day-care is necessary. This winds up hurting the individuals more than helping because with the added day-care bills on top of a lower income, they cannot possibly get themselves out of poverty. Through the rest of this paper, I will show many pros and cons of the workfare program and add some ideas of my own on how welfare problems can be solved.
             It is believed that Adolf Hitler and welfare-workfare have extreme similar characteristics of one another. In 1934 through 1936, Nazi's forbade industrial workers from getting hire paying jobs from their lower paying jobs without the government's permission. This is the same idea as how recipients on welfare are not allowed to earn more money than the welfare system will let them. The recipients of welfare have to work for slave labor jobs, just as Hitler made the industrial workers do. If they earn more then allowed, it is taken out of their checks and or benefits (Slave Labor,2).
             In the 1960's the welfare system was introduced during the "War on Poverty." Welfare is defined as a program where one could obtain money if there was no income or not enough income to meet the standards of living. This system determined the income level for every household and how many individuals lived there.
