This true story set through set through the 1940's is about a young boy named Elie. He is young and is just starting to experience life, but certain events caused by the evil German dictator Hitler causes everything to go downhill. As Elie and his family don't take everything seriously, Hitler is trying to det rid all Jews on the Earth.
             A conflict that sets a lot into place is man vs. man. I think that Elie's biggest enemy is himself. He is young and can't survive by himself even though the environment he lives in is basically every man for themself. The only person that was there for Elie is his father. As Elie narrowly escapes death numerous times, he does not give up, but starts to question his faith in God. In his mind he wants to just die because it would be so much easier, but he can't because if he does, 100 more people will be killed for it.
             Another conflict is the man vs. society. Elie and the prisoners is struggling to survive and the German officers aren't making it any easier for them, especially by not giving the prisoners any food sometimes at days at a time. They don't hesitate to shoot anyone and don't care if they kill prisoners. So mainly Elie's only objective is to just deal with the officers and don't get killed for doing anything stupid, but the officers give him and the people hard times by beating up helpless prisoners, spitting on them, shooting them in places that make them suffer and just getting in their head and they can't do anything about it, and if they do they will just get tortured and killed.
             The last conflict to pass is man vs. nature. All this mostly takes place during the prisoners run 40 mile through the snow. Elie had to endure in a 40 mile run, he struggled to do it but he and other prisoners succeeded. They had very few breaks and no food, which then forced them to live off of the snow.
