Being a good writer and having good writing skills is something that once someone attains they can take with them for the rest of their life. There are few things in life that you can have forever, and being a good writer is something that can help you throughout your entire life. Some people are born with natural talent, and some people learn how to be a good writer from school. Good writing in 4th grade and good writing in college is very different, but it all starts in elementary school.
             A person doesn't have to be fully educated to be a "good writer". Anyone who writes with emotion is a good writer. It is not someone else's right to tell someone else that they are a bad writer if the author is writing from their heart. Feelings and emotion can turn any piece of writing into "good" writing. Anything written from the heart makes an interesting story, and it makes it more interesting to read.
             Good college writing is organized, easy to read and understand, grabs the reader's attention, is thought-out, educated, makes clear points and has good supporting details. It shows maturity that high school writing doesn't; there aren't as many mistakes in college writing that there would be in high school writing. Grammar and punctuation are expected to be known when you get to college, and good writers practice good grammar and punctuation.
             "Good" isn't a word that I like to use in writing because I think it's not descriptive enough, but a "good" writer basically needs to have the basic skills of writing; they know how to set up a paper and make points and support them with correct, clear information. Anyone can be a good writer if they put their mind to it and if they aren't lazy. Once you are a good writer, you can spread your opinions and imagination with the world.
