             How Does Biography as a Theology Work? Is This a Good Thing?
             We've all had heroes and role models to look up to throughout all our lives, someone's example to follow in a particular case. As Christians, that someone has always been easy to find. Jesus Christ has made himself apparent through both His word and His Holy Spirit. Furthermore, it is safe to look up to, and aspire to be more like Jesus because by His nature He was perfect. A flawless example of how we should live our lives. Biography as a theology works by using someone, in this case George Washington, as that sort of example. Which wouldn't be a problem so long as this person was actually perfect. However Romans 3:23 states that, "all have sinned and fallen short of God's glory." Knowing this, we know beyond a reasonable doubt that Washington was not perfect; he was just like the rest of us.
             Weems methodically chronicles Washington's life from birth to the full manifestation of his character during the Revolutionary War. Weems uses every example from Washington's youth and beyond, even his birth, to raise him upon a pedestal that is beyond the reach of normal man. Regarding his birth Weems wrote,
             "Those over delicate ones, who are ready to faint at the thought of a second marriage, might do well to remember, that the greatest man that ever lived was
             the son of this second marriage."
             Not only is Weems proclaiming Washington to be the "Greatest man that ever lived", but has made a moral judgment that second marriages are acceptable, and those who disagree are "over delicate". Taken in a certain context, this runs the risk of being extremely offensive to some people who might not think that this was acceptable.
