Influential Females

             I certainly agree with Queen Elizabeth II's statement: "A female character may have a significant influence, positive or negative, on another character." Females can easily charm or use seductive words to persuade others around them. It can be either be to win something over, or to positively influence someone to make a right decision. If a female desires something she can easily get it, whether its for wealth or power. In the play Macbeth by Shakespeare, and The Crucible by Authur Miller, both authors show how a female character may have a notable influence on another. Both Lady Macbeth and Abigail Williams demonstrate that they can easily entice other characters.
             Lady Macbeth easily brainwashes her husband to kill King Duncan. She seeks to transform Macbeth into a cruel, aggressive man. But Macbeth, unwilling to accept the possible consequences, finds himself backing out. Lady Macbeth is determined to change his decision, looking forward to the wealth that would come if he went on with his plan. After long thoughts Macbeth is ultimately persuaded that killing King Duncan is for the better. Before the killing of Duncan, Macbeth overgoes a power of guilt, leading to Macbeth's soon destruction. Foreshadowing is seen in the chaos and disorder right before the Kings Death, with the horses killing each other and moaning winds. Lady Macbeth effortlessly persuaded Macbeth to kill the king, after letting him recognize he is too timid and has to transform into a brave man to get what he desires.
             Abigail Williams is clearly a negative influence on her friend Marry Warren. After Abigail involves all her friends in dancing in the woods, the town is convinced they are all bewitched. But Abigail knows its all a lie and they were just dancing. Abigail admits secretly to John Proctor that no witchcraft was involved, so Proctor confronts his servant Mary Warren.
