The spoken as well as the written word, have extraordinary power. The word has the power to curse, to bless, and to do everything that lies between the two. The word also has the power to change the coarse of history. A very clear example of this is the situation we, the human race are in right now. A few men – at this very moment will change the world drastically and forever simply by speaking. The words that they choose to use hold in their grasp the lives of many and the future itself. Just as "God said "Let there be light!" and there was light," so man who was created in God's own image has that power to create (and destroy) with the Word. In other cultures, the word could cause the rain to fall. The aboriginal Australian people, for example, spoke this verse to open the floodgates of heaven:
             Regardless of whether or not it really made the fall, it was the belief of those whom the fell upon that it did. Therefore it did. The word can cause much pain in the world. Anyone who has had his or her feelings hurt in an argument or conversation can testify to that. But the word can also heal. When Catholics gather to prey for the healing of the sick, they say this prayer. "Omnipotent and eternal God, the everlasting Salvation of those who believe, hear us on behalf of Thy sick servant, N., for whom we beg the aid of Thy pitying mercy, that, with his bodily health restored, he may give thanks to Thee in Thy church. Through Christ our Lord. Amen." When we pray for the healing of the world or for the healing a person who is sick, we more often than not use the power of the word in order to heal that or whomever may be in need of that healing. Let us say that even if words by themselves don't ascertain such power, then at least they are a most effective catalyst used
