             Lenina is John's love interest throughout the book, however she is something much more. She is the physical form of John's struggle between body and spirit. Though John loves her, Lenina cannot understand why he will not sleep with her, which is her natural tendency to do with almost everyone she meets. She will be on the deciding factors of John's fateful decision at the end of the novel.
             This character is the only one throughout the entire book that is essentially like John. He has read all the "forbidden" books, which include Shakespeare and history, and can relate to what John feels. He is one of the ten world controllers of the world state. This character is very important in the book because his interactions with other characters summarizes and expresses many of the ideas that are presented, especially in the dialogue between him and the John.
             Setting and Literary "Hook":
             The story takes place very much in the future during 632 A.F. The A.F. most likely stands for After Ford. Ford is a prominent figure in the book because he developed the assembly line, in which one person does a task over and over again, much like some of the Deltas and Epsilons in the book that work in the factories. It is set in London and it seems the like government is the World State, where ten world controllers run it.
