Stop for a second and think ... what does the term WIFE mean to you?
             In thee essay I Want a Wife author states: "I want a wife who will plan the menus, do the necessary grocery shopping, prepare the meals, serve them pleasantly, and then do the cleaning...". She is expressing the "standards" that women have to meet in order to become a WIFE. That's what male stereotype is looking for, it is more a salve than a WIFE.
             Sadly enough I have to admit that we still live in a patriarchal (ruled by man) society. Standards set by Hierarchy (Kings, Warlords, "Authoritive" figure) are still passed on to generation after generation. Slaves have been a part of human lives forever. Slavery is no longer practiced, but in a lot of families it still exists, only under a new name-WIFE!
             Most societies don't recognize women as partners, especially as equal partners, like some of Middle Eastern countries and Asia. In these cultures bigamist relationships can't even be questioned by women. And if the husband is not satisfied with his wife in one way or another, he can just get rid of her.
             Even in more that 75% of modern U.S. families, women are expected to be cooking, cleaning, taking care of their children, and their husbands. Our society is still uses ideas developed to suit the comfort of man.
             I can't say that I agree with this concept, because I believe in choice! I believe that every one of us, woman or man should have a right to choose what is best for her/him self. If the woman likes to be treated the way that is described in the passage, it is her choice. And I have no right to tell her what is right, or what is wrong for her. I can only say if she is not happy being a WIFE, she should do something about it, because there is always a choice.
