Nikolai Gogol

             The man Nicolia V. Gogol a well known author, a look at his life and events that effected him as a man and a writer. Through writing Gogol expressed his emotions, and used his since of humor to write stories that involve life through injustice and other literary devises. Mainly his writing was a source of exploration into a more simplistic life yet it seems his stories mainly dealt with common injustice. The man named Gogol was a writer that could not except critics, he would rather run away from his reviews than face them as a whole. This way of thinking was not usually productive, and in many situations did not help him, it seemed to plaque him throughout his life.
             The early years of Gogol seemed productive, going to school, being a normal youth. He was born March 19, 1809 in the town of Sorochintsy, which is what in now Ukraine. When he was in high school in a quit town of Deshin he was known for his "bitten" tongue and rebellion personality. Even at a young age Nicolai enjoyed writing poetry, and short stories. He enjoyed his youth often reflecting upon his time in Deshin. His time as a youth seemed to be the most enjoyable time of his life.
             At the age of 17 he moved to St. Petersberg to find a job in the field of civil service. He realized that with a lack of connections and little income this would be a hard task. So he tried a few things before publishing his first short story. Gogol published his first short story at his own expense, the lack of notice and bad reviews hurt him deeply. It was at this time he almost moved to the United States, instead he took the money his mother was sending him, that was to pay for the morgage and took a ferry to Germany were he lived until his money ran out.
