What Nietzsche presented in this work was a pagan mythology for neither those who could accept neither the traditional values of Christianity nor those of Social Darwinism. He agreed with Darwin that life is the struggle and further agreed with Schopenhauer that there only exists a sense of the meaningless and futility of all the pain and suffering caused by the struggle.
