             Of course, buried in all of this is the belief that sex between women is not nearly as threatening as sex with men, because the former is not really "sex."
             Alyssa: "You're saying a person's a virgin until they've had intercourse with a member of the opposite sex?"
             Holden: "Isn't that the standard definition?"
             Myth: Lesbians are purely sexual, and don't want serious relationships. This lie is played into affect throughout the film by the silenced sexualization of the other lesbians. Although there are several scenes with groups of lesbians, never once does the audience see an example of a lesbian who actually cares for another woman. Alyssa and her girlfriend are seen tonguing in public and fondling each other. And at one point, Alyssa turns to her and makes a remark about wanting "to fuck you." Later in this scene we are given Alyssa's definition of "fuck," which further plays into the idea that she doesn't actually have feelings for her lovers: "For me it describes any sex when it's not totally about love."
