Not only are the thinkers of the day holding to a philosophy of absolutenihilism, the general rejection of customary beliefs in morality and religion, but Christianity has allowed over 3000 sects, many of which teach outright heresy as doctrine, under its umbrella. This type of environment only breeds confusion. The only thing that can give a guiding light amidst the whirlpool of unanswered questions is the truth. But what is the truth?
In this article I shall examine the very basics of Christianity - the foundation on which it stood in its earliest beginning and which it still standsupon today even amidst the turbulent greys that seek to muddy it.
Too many people want what Jesus offers but do not truly want who He is. It is not enough just to ask Jesus to be your Saviour; He must be your Lord as well. Saving is what Jesus does. Lord is who Jesus is.
The word "believe" in the Greek (the entire New Testament was written in Greek, the Old Testament in Hebrew) is pronounced "kurios". This title is given to one who has complete and total authority over you. This happens which we totaly surrender out lives to Jesus. Only when we totally surrender to Him can we trulysay that "Jesus is Lord". When we say that Jesus is out Lord, we are saying that he has total authority in our relationships, finances, thoughts, vocations, words, and deeds. If Jesus is really our Lord, we will do whatever He wants us to do without questioning Him. This sometimes means following in directions that others will not understand or even acknowledge as being "spiritual". You never say "no" to your Lord (Luke 6:46).
