The 1990s were pretty good years. They seemed to be fun, full of technology advancements and overall, demoralizing. Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky's actions led our country to a state of acceptance of crudity. Children became more involved in oral sex. Jokes became more regular about like matters. The affair was by far the biggest event of the decade, through its effect on the United States and our future.
             On July 8th, 1999, an article came out in the Washington Post. Parents were becoming concerned about increased incidence of middle school students taking part in oral sex. One student stated that it had become a thing of popularity. When asked why they believed it was acceptable, even if they were caught, students said it was because the president got away with it. According to Clinton, oral sex is not really sex, and "is" isn't "is". Through him the students learned that it can prevent unwanted pregnancies, and you can remain a virgin even if you have sexual relations. Look what he did! The children also believed that Clinton was not in the wrong because he was only tried for lying, not for having oral sex.
             Monica Lewinski received to excess publicity. She was praised rather than criticized. She was on the front of magazines. She got a book contract. She was famous. Is this not what many young girls dream of? Being a "cover girl"? She got to all of this by having oral sex with the president. Unsurprisingly, this influenced young girls. There was no negative consequence. The girls closely following the whole ordeal decided it can't hurt them in any way, and may even help them.
