Unknown Victim

             I was hiding in the grungy dumpster, which was located in a dark deserted alley, waiting for the men to leave. I had been sitting there waiting for what seemed like eternity and my mouth had a dry thirst as if I had run a marathon. As I sat there waiting I heard tiny little thuds on the top of the tin dumpster. I immediately began to burrow myself in garbage, but then I noticed the small thuds steadily growing louder as if it were raining. This was the perfect setting to the perfect day, not only was I stuck in a slimy dumpster with bloodthirsty killers less than five feet away, but I was also stuck in a thunderstorm.
             I was getting nauseous form the stench of the heap of garbage sacks that had spilt open causing their contents to spill. The rain seemed to intensify the appalling smell of the filthy waste; if that was possible. Although the rain amplified the awful aroma, it did however, offer a sense of security. The sheets of rain pounding on the tin dumpster allowed me to build up enough courage to investigate.
             As I was trying to lean forward and get a better look, my hands slipped on some moist, slimy noodles that had to have been recently disposed of because they were still slightly warm. This caused me to hit the side of the cold dumpster making a thud. I was now shaking furiously hoping that the men had not heard me, but I knew it was too late- I had been discovered!
             I heard who seemed to be the boss, order one of the men to go check and see what the cause of the noise was. Just then a huge, terrifying rat with red, beady eyes and razor sharp teeth scurried across my soggy feet to the top of the dumpster making a keen, high-pitched screeching noise. I guess the men had decided that the rat was the culprit, because I realized the pounding was now my heart and no longer the footsteps, as they slowly faded away.
