             The ¡§Dick and Jane¡ world also victimizes Geraldine in that she not only believes in the propaganda, which is a false representation of happiness, but also lives out the illusion in her marriage. The primer tells of how Jane wants to play but no one will play with Jane, yet all of the family members are happy and smiling, forever giving the illusion of perfect bliss. The telltale sign is shown in the ¡§estrangement suggested by that family¡s inability to respond to the daughter Jane¡s desire to play¡ (Awkward 59).
