The immense power possessed by Morgan is similar to the power had by Don Corleone in The Godfather. All of Don's power comes from material wealth. The Don along with the other Mafia in New York during that time period essentially controlled the entire city of New York, including the elected officials.
             Morgan, along with the Godfather, has the power to control the actions of authorities. However, the Godfather often obtains his power and support of government and authoritative officials by buying them off or by doing favors for them. Morgan does not buy off the officials.
