Deforestation is the clearing of tropical rain forest. Deforestation happens all around the world. Also deforestation has been going on for many centuries. The deforestation rate has been raising. and if it continues the rain forests will vanish within 100years.
             Deforestation occurs in many different ways. Most of the clearing is done for agricultural purposes. Farmers chop down, and burn tree trunks . The process in which the farmers do this is called slash and burn agriculture. Modern agriculture happens in a larger areas, and farmers have to deforest several squares at a time.
             Commercial logging is anther form of deforestation. Commercial logging is cutting trees for sale as timber or pulp. Logging occurs in certain areas. Logging occurs in places where " economically valuables species are cut or by clear cutting, where all tress are cut". Commercial logging involves heavy machinery, such as bulldozers, road graders, and log skidders. These tools are used to cut down trees and to build roads.
             Deforestation came about as a way for the economy to raise money. Governments have projects that benefits of deforestation and raises money.. They also sell logging to pay for international debt, and to develop industry. Deforestation also occurs to construct towns or dams which flood areas.
             Deforestation increases the carbon dioxide in the air. The plants and the soil in the tropical forests have large amounts of carbon. When deforestation takes place, carbon form plants and trees, are released into the air. The carbon from the plants mix with oxygen and it forms CO2(carbon dioxide).
             The loss of the rain forest has a negative effect on the global carbon cycle. Deforestation releases carbon into the atmosphere.
