Christian (Bible) vs. Islam (Qur'an)
             Over the past month, the Nation has heard much about the Islam (Qur'an) beliefs and how they differ significantly from Christianity beliefs. The Qur'an is the sacred book of Muslims. The name Qur'an, or Koran in English translation, means a recitation or something to be recited. The influence of the Qur'an is excellent. It is one of the most widely read books in the world. Its teachings formed the basis of the great Islamic civilization of the past, and it still guides and inspires millions of Muslims. It is the final authority in matters of faith and practice for all Muslims. The reverence for the holy book is so great that thousands of Muslims learn it by heart.
             After completing a study over various topics within the Qur'an and the Holy
             Bible, one of the books that have the most significant contrast, is the story of Adam and Eve. If we compare the Bible to the Qur'an, we can see that Eve, the mother of all human beings, has a different standing in each book. Do the men within the Christianity faith blame it on Eve? Could that be why there has been so much abuse and disregard in the past for women, or why women have never received full equality rights with men, even if they are more qualified?
             In the Bible, Genesis 3:1-24, a serpent convinced the woman (Eve) to eat the
             fruit of the forbidden tree. When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good for food and pleasing to the eye and desirable for gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gave some to her husband, who was with her, and heated it. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they realized they were naked, so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. Adam and Eve hid from the Lord God among the garden trees because they were afraid of being naked.
