In my current and brief inhabitation at Lynchburg College, I have come across many discoveries about myself. In the upcoming months I will apply these discoveries toward a better experience in higher education. Some of the things I have discovered are to be more self-responsible, be more educationally motivated, be more socially adaptable, have more economical insight, and to learn to keep the love with family that lives over 300 miles away. Some of these discoveries have been learned the hard way; but no matter what, these experiences are setting me up to live life on my own.
             I have had to do many things to get my self responsibility near perfection. Without anyone to watch over me, I must now depend on myself to get food, wash my own clothes, and keep my basic life in order.
             I have also learned to be more educationally motivated. I am at college for a reason. My future depends on my success here. My parents' top dollar was not put out for me to sleep through classes. I now apply myself and enjoy learning.
             Lynchburg College has also made me more socially adaptable. Southwest Virginia is definitely does not compare to my home in southern New Jersey. The culture is different. People grow up differently. I have learned to adapt to these changes and share my Northern upbringings with my fellow classmates.
             Economical insight could possibly be the most important trait I have discovered of myself here in Virginia. Without a doubt, I have become more money conscious out here on my own. I look at the best deals and prices. I try to buy only what is needed. Traits like these will help me become more economically responsible later on in life.
             My final discovery noted has to deal with my family back home in New Jersey. After spending the better part of nineteen years with them, it is hard getting through the day without them. Thanks to their reinforcement of love and encouragement, I can get by. The new lifestyle...
