Like Christianity and Judaism, Islam recognizes Abraham as the patriarch of their religion and entire human family. Abraham went through many trials, tribulations, and made many sacrifices. Muslims consider him to have been trusted by Allah with the leadership of mankind. According to the Koran, Mohammed has spiritual lineage from Abraham. The Koran is their main religious text, revealed to Mohammed from Allah, or God, by the angel Gabriel. This time is now celebrated for a month, called Ramadan. The original Arabic text of the Koran is Allah's exact words and has been preserved for over fourteen hundred years. The Koran directly translated means "to read aloud." Mohammed described to Koran as "the Book, whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are believers [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)],"
             1. Declaration of belief (Shahada): the first act Muslim faith, similar to baptism, and expresses a person's commitment to lead a life according to God's guidance and the way Muslims seek to live their lives in just a simple phrase
             "I bear witness that there its no god but God; I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His Prophet."
             2. Prayer (Salat), a prayer repeated five times a day in the direction of Mecca, reminds the Muslims that their faithfulness and recognition and perpetual remembrance of God helps them stay on the right path of Muslim virtue, and guides them away from sin, evil, and indecency
             3. Fasting (Sawm), during the month of Ramadan, Muslims sacrifice drinking, eating, smoking, and sex. It reminds them of their dependence on God and his gifts, since so many of the humans living involuntarily fast because of famine
