The September 11, terrorist attacks have united our nation, but all this unity through nationalism is breaking us apart through racism. All this hatred has torn mankind apart by making the race of other people a factor in attitudes or actions concerning them. Racism is a factor that has spread worldwide, but in the United States alone was a particular issue by whites against blacks (Cultural Literacy).
Through out history racism has showed its face in many different forms. Its most recent being the nationalism in the US making it seem like if you're not an American, you're an enemy! The flags on all cars are a strong example of the racism through nationalism. Flags with signs such as "Don't Mess With The US!", and "Proud To Be An American". These so called acts of nationalism make all non-Americans seem like outsiders, or perhaps enemies.
But national racism isn't only displayed on car bumpers, it also exists in our households every night, when President Bush comes on the television and commemorates America along with "Americans". This type of commercial shows how only the Americans in America matter, and that the so-called land of opportunity is no longer to opportunistic. Ever since the terrorist attacks more and more hatred crimes of racism has been occurring towards all non-white races.
Hundreds of people are protesting against a racist war, which is going on as we speak. This war on terrorism is causing lots of hatred and racism toward Islam and its descendents. Statistics show that ever since the terrorist attacks crimes against Islam have rapidly shot up. Muslim people are getting threatened, their businesses are getting harassed, and many are in fear for their lives (AAP).
