Of Mice and Men

             Place- Soledad in the Salinas Valley
             How well did the author achieve his purpose: I think the author achieved his purpose very well. He made the book very interesting.
             George - I didn't like George that much. I thought he was mean to Lennie.
             Lennie - Lennie was probably one of my more favorite characters. He was nice to everyone even though he wasn't one of the smartest people.
             Mood: The mood of the book changed. Some parts it was happy and other sad.
             The book's strengths were they way the book was explained and the suspense it built in the end
             The book's weaknesses were the way they explained the characters over and over again.
             The most important incidents in the development of the story were when George and Lennie were working on the ranch and when Lennie was talking to Crooks
             I didn't think it had a satisfying conclusion because I didn't like how George killed Lennie at the end, when George made it sound like he wasn't mad at him and was going to take care of him.
             Yes, I would like to read an another book by the same author. I read the Red Pony before and enjoyed that book very much. That's why I decided to read this book.
             Two passages that impressed me were: " George shivered and looked at the gun, and then he threw it from him, back up on the bank, near the pile of old ashes." - " Slim said, "You hadda, George. I swear you hadda. Come on with me." He led George into the entrance of the trail and up toward the highway."
             I think the book is overall a very good book. It was very interesting and exciting. I would recommend the book for others because it could teach you a very good lesson.
