             Since winning his Senate seat, Mark has begun the job of building the key relationships in Congress and the Administration that will allow him to make a difference for his state. This work will be critically important during the current 107th Congress, where the Senate is closely divided. His vast experience will serve him well in a body that deals with such diverse issues as health care, education, economic development, agriculture, budget and tax policy as well as the important Social Security and Medicare programs. In his early Senate days, Mark has stressed the same issues that were at the center of his campaign. He has continued to press to make prescription drugs more affordable for seniors in Minnesota and across the country. He also has pushed to revamp the nation's failing farm policy, and to ensure that the federal government upholds its obligation to adequately fund special education. He will also continue his practice of performing volunteer service during his many trips back home. The practice allows him to see issues from a different perspective, which will help him as he works to address our nation's problems in Washington, D.C. Mark to Serve on Agriculture, Armed Services, Rules, and Governmental Affairs Committees. Mark sought and won committee assignments on panels that put him in position to do the most good for his state.
