In the poem "One Art", Elizabeth Bishop writes about many things that she has lost and the way she coped with them. At first she tries to convince the reader that the art of losing is not too har to master and that their loss is no disaster, but in the end she admits that although it is not that difficult to loss some things, their lose can be dredful.
             In the beginning of the poem the poet illustrates many different things that she had lost through out her life. She lost her door keys, time, and places where she intended to travel. She lost her mother's watch and three houses that she loved. Through each loss we see that she is able to control her sorrows and is convinced that they can not bring her down.
             Towards the end of the poem Bishop describes losing two cities and the dreams that she had. She lost her home and things that were important to her. Her hidden feeling emerge and she acknowledges that she misses the things that she lost although once again she claims that it is not a calamity and that they do not affect her life.
             In the end of the poem the poet expresses her feelings about losing her love. She remembers his joking voice and his gesture that she loved. The poet finally confesses "the art of losing's not too hard to master though it may look like a disaster". She had many loses, but none of those loses came close to being asss painful as losing her love.
             The poet loses many things and learns to live with it. She loses things that are important to her, but tries to deny and hide her pain. When she lost her love, it was hard for her to deal with it and it seems as though she really misses him and is falling apart.
