             Bruce was a born movie star. Before leaving for Hong Kong, Bruce had his first film role in part of a Chinese movie made in San Francisco. Bruce's father, Lee Hoi Chuen, had many connections with the entertainment industry in Hong Kong. Because of this, Bruce was often taken backstage to theater performances; he watched his father act on film sets, as well as going on the mainland China tour during his summer vacations. This sparked Bruce's love for filming and acting. At the age of six, Bruce starred in his first real role in a film, The Beginning of a Boy. Ever since then, throughout his childhood, he appeared in many films. By the time he was 18, he has already been in over 20 films (Lee TBLS 21).
             Since the streets of Kowloon were very rough and full of poverty, there were many street gangs of young Chinese boys. Bruce hung around with the wrong crowd and soon enough, as a teenager, he was involved with a gang and engaged into many street fights. When Bruce attended La Salle College in Hong Kong, there was much rivalry between the Hong Kong Chinese and the British children at King George V School. One day, after school, Bruce and a group of his friends went to the British school and taunted the English boys, which provoked them to a fight. Bruce came home to his mother and asked his mother that he wanted to be trained in the martial arts. He said that he was being bullied at school and wanted to learn how to defend himself properly.
