Physiognomy is defined as exterior features defining inner character. This means that the way a person looks or acts is an indication of that person's personality or character. I believe that by observing Mr. Cunningham's behavior during class, I will be able to learn something about his character.
             Certain things Mr. Cunningham does in class, I believe, give me an intuition of what Mr. Cunningham's character is. By observing several things in class I believe I was able to determine some things. For example, Mr. Cunningham tries to present the material in a manner that everyone can understand. He tries to explain the historical events as if they were stories. He rarely uses his book to teach the material. This shows me that he knows the material, doesn't just try to convey what the book says. He gives viewpoints and tells us the story of what happened in that particular event. Mr. Cunningham's facial expressions also tell something. For every emotion, he has a facial expression. When he is displeased he looks one way, when confused, another. This leads me to believe that he does not try to occult feelings. He is open with people and says what he feels, and shows how he feels.
             After having studied Mr. Cunningham's actions, the way he conducts himself, and the way he presents his material, indicates to me that he has a thorough knowledge of the topic at hand. Although the technique used to arrive at this is not by any means scientific, I believe it gives a pretty good idea. Through physiognomy I believe I have been able to determine Mr. Cunningham's personality, or at least a part of his character.
