her areas were living in terror and fear. They still doubted that the Germans would make it as far as Sighet.
             A few days passed and German soldier's started to arrive in Sighet. The town of Sighet had a false first impression of the Germans. They found them to be at a distance but polite. During Passover the Germans arrested the Jewish communities' leaders. Their lives changed quickly after that. The first thing was that Jews were not allowed to leave their home for three days. The Germans took all of the Jews valuable items they were not allowed to have them. The Jews were made to were a yellow star, they couldn't go into restaurants, cafes, they couldn't travel, attend synagogue, or be in the streets after six o'clock. These were the beginning of their new rules.
             Two ghettos were built in Sighet. The town thought that they were built to hold them there till the war was over or till the Red Army came. They thought that neither sight controlled the ghettos, German or Jew. Then Wiesel's father came with the news that they were going to be deported. They were only allowed to take some personal things, clothes, and food. The next day all Jews were made to stand in the street and wait for their turn to come. They didn't eat or drink; they just stood in the street with the hot sun beating down on them. When night came they were allowed to go inside again till the next day, then they were all called out again to wait. There was a convoy of cattle wagons waiting for them.
