he ventured into wedlock again in 1987 but quickly divorced from Diane Lander in 1988. The couple realized the err of their ways, reunited and were re-coupled in 1990. Although seemingly futile in his personal life, practically all of Neil Simon's plays have been produced on Broadway and were spectacular fruitions. Year after year he filled theatres and eventually cinemas and television screens as well, with his procession of popular musicals and comedies.
             Twenty-eight plays under his belt, it is amazing that virtually every one has been critically acclaimed, from his first, Come Blow Your Horn (1961) to Odd Couple II (1998). Simon also holds the record for the most Broadway hits in American Theatre History, the Kennedy Honors and life achievement award one after another. In 1966 he had four hit shows on Broadway yet, he became increasingly dissatisfied at hearing critics dismiss him as a "gag-writer".
