             One of the most recent United Nation mission's (including Canada) is the Ethiopia- Eritrea mission.
             Eritrea has just gained its independence in 1993, after fighting a Guerrilla War against Ethiopian government for over thirty years. On May 6, 1998 Ethiopia accused Eritrea of "flagrant and unexpected aggression." The border between Ethiopia and Eritrea was never clearly marked on maps or on the ground. This has resulted in uncertainty about which African country can claim ownership of certain pieces of land. Ethiopia said Eritrea had invaded Ethiopia's northwest Tigre Region. Ethiopia also believed Eritrea was overcharging them for the use of the Red Sea Port of Assab. After two years of fighting, Ethiopia and Eritrea signed a cession of hostility agreement, on June 18, 2000.
