             Bordo also discusses that there are advertisements, which "destabilize" stereotypical gender roles as well. For example, an advertisement may feature a woman doing something a male would normally partake in such as voracious and indulgent eating. The fact that we normally see males gorging themselves with tasty delectables makes this advertisement "destabilizing". Unfortunately, according to Bordo, when such atypical situations are shown in an advertisement they are usually presented in comic fashion or in a manner in which they mock themselves. In our example of a woman with a hearty appetite the desire for food is more often used as a metaphor for her sexual hunger than to show that the behavior exhibited is acceptable.
