With Iago on the prowl, there is no chance of a utopian marriage in this play. There is no way that vengeful Iago will allow someone other than himself to live a happy life. Iago unveils his plan to destroy Othello's marriage during his first lengthy speech. Iago says,
             "I hate the Moor, And it is thought abroad that 'twixt my sheets H'as done my
             office. I know not if't be true, But I, for mere suspicion in that kind, Will do, as if
             Simply because Othello chose Cassio as his lieutenant over Iago, he devises a plan to destroy a man's life. For example, Iago admits that he knows nothing of an affair between his wife, Emilia, and Othello. But, in Iago's mind if it helps to destroy Othello then he is all for it.
             There is a great deal of jealousy present in Iago. He is not only angry at losing his job to Cassio, but he is also upset because he feels that his marriage with Emilia is not as great as that of Othello and Desdemona. When Cassio apologizes for paying Emilia a compliment, Iago says,
