             The gases of the greatest concern related to global warming are those that result in part from anthropogenic sources. These gases include CO2, N2O, CH4, O3, and CFCs, all of which have increased significantly in the past century, largely due to the Industrial Revolution. Levels of CO2 have jumped 30%, N2O 15%, and CH4 100% (Thompson, 1997). Because the anthropogenic greenhouse gases absorb infrared radiation from the Earth, it has been hypothesized that the Earth may be warming due to the increase of these gases.
