Language today has taken a form that has given it an underlying meaning. It has a cover that gives it a less meaningful sound. Today's language is
plagued by using highly sophisticated words were more simpler terms could
have given the explanation a more universal understanding. This is evident
in looking at advertisements were the consumer is promised the world in
order for the product or service to be used. Anything can be used from
"guaranteed" to "proven" to "hundreds of customers satisfied." The use of
commercials, with testimonials from the customers and approving doctors,
manipulate the mental images a person forms and will have a greater chance
Products that do have the label "guaranteed" for example the performance
weight gain drug "FatBurner" has an ad in a magazine but when the page is
turn, the drug has a whole separate page of the side effects or warnings
that it might pose. There are endless products that language is used hide
over any ill effects to make it seem like is perfect, with out a flaw.
Another danger that is present today, and was present since time, is the
manipulation of language to deal with the world news and the leaders. Words
can be used to make a horrible situation seem like a far less tragedy then
what it really is. Language was used to cover up over the Hilter's reign
and was manipulated to the American people by having a small little section
of the events over the thousands that were dying in the "relocation camps"
hidden in the pages of the news papers. Even today's world news, if used or
written in lament terms, would excite up a controversy that if not covered
up, would have a great deal of attraction from more of the public.
