The relationship between socioeconomic and education is basically if you are considered "wealthy" you can get a good education, but if you are "poor" your education will be lousy or nonexistent. I feel that statement existed in the past (like before civil rights), and is not so true in today's educational society. The public school system is open to the poor and wealthy alike. Although, some schools are somewhat "rundown" or out-dated an education is still available. I feel getting a college degree is important in today's society, but it is way too expensive. For those whom are considered "poor" or "financially unstable" a college education is paid for easier than that of someone who is "financially stable" or considered "middle-class." My reasoning for that statement is based upon my friends and my own experiences. My friends could basically go to any college they desired (based upon being in-state and acceptance) and be able to afford it, because either they came from low-income families, or they lived in single parent households. The state basically gave them grants and all kinds of money, so they were set. But in my situation, being considered "middle-class" or whatever my family would be thought as, I couldn't receive anything from the state. Therefore I have to rely on getting loans, scholarships, and whatnot. The reason I couldn't get anything from the state was due to my parents' income, but what the state didn't take into account is how much of their income has to go back into their small self-owned business. Basically, I am going to be in dept for the rest of my life (I am exaggerating). Education is based on class if you are comparing the overly rich to the extremely poor. But what about those of us who are in the middle?
