The acceptance level of Violence in both media and film are a pressing issue that is continually raised with regards to violent copycat acts such as school shootings in columbine etc...
             It is often believed that the ongoing yet described by some experts, as relatively needless violence in films is the greatest influencing factor for many violent occurrences.
             A study performed by Kansas State University professor John Murray, outlined the affect of TV violence and its affect on youth. Murray's test was conducted using 8 youths between the ages of age eight and thirteen, involving them in the viewing of 3 minute sequences of violent and non violent clips. The violent clips were taken from rocky 4 and the non violent from national geographic, with a third sequence of film being a clip of an X on a blank blue screen. The results showed, that the children became somewhat aroused by the violence in Rocky, and showed signs of wanting to imitate sequences involved. Murray however concluded, " There is still a great deal to be learned about how television violence affects children" and further stated "television and film violence contribute to violence in society however, are not the sole cause. "
             A relevant issue at the heart of both media violence and film violence is the need for strong censorship. In an article found from the New York Times called Politicians Speak out but are Wary of Restricting Film Violence. The article was obviously based on happenings in American parliament, however this is most relevant for the simple fact most influential film is produced in the United States. The article outlined that there is great need for restrictions to violent entertainment with regards to minors.
