The Saga Continues

             For two days Heathcliff travels to Liverpool. He comes to a Parlor in hopes of finding some food and a warm place to stay. When he enters, blank stares from all across the room are on him. He walks up to the bar to try and persuade the bartender into giving him a room for the night. But before he reaches the bar a woman grabs him by the arm. He turned around and saw a woman dressed very provocatively and he assumed that she 'worked' there. Another thing he noticed about her is that she looked a lot like he does. "George", she calls him. "No ma'am, my name is Heathcliff", was his reply. "How old are you?" she continues to ask him. "Well to be totally honest I'm not quite sure, I suppose I'm 22 or 23." Heathcliff said hesitantly.
             The woman, with a look of shock said the words he never expected to hear, "I'm your mother, and your name is George Beaumont." They sat down at the table together and began to reflect on the past. She went on to say that they had become so poor that she had sold herself and then sold Heathcliff to a very respectable man (Mr. Earnshaw).
             Throughout their conversation she called him George, which he was not comfortable with. By now he was enraged with this woman who claimed to be a mother. He was about to get up and walk out when she mentioned his father. He became very interested in knowing about this man. Mary, his mother, persuaded the man who owned the parlor to let him stay the night there. In the morning, Heathcliff went to his mother's room and was about to take the money from her chest, he felt that he owed it to her, but then realized that he was a human and would eventually regret it. He left the parlor and fled to Dublin Ireland where Mary last heard from his father, Henry. He arrived at the manor, which was very modest.
