The play Medea-Redux was disturbing, yet very realistic for a true story. At the beginning of the film I immediately new that this lady was on drugs or was abused in her past. She felt like she had a lot of pain in her life. When she told her story about how her 7th grade teacher and her class went on a trip to the aquarium it was unpleasant to hear that the teacher took advantage of such a young student. Later on we begin to learn that the teacher takes her home because her dad doesn't come to pick her up. Later on the teacher pulls over and kisses her. It is a scary thought that teachers abuse students, but in reality this does go on.
Days later the 13 year old girl finds out she is pregnant. This is one of the most disturbing things in the film that a teacher banged up a teenage girl just in Jr. High. She wasn't upset about hearing the news. She didn't cry but she says she should have. When the teacher finds out he tells her that he doesn't want anyone to know. He says it will be their secret and that he loves children.
After all the girl has a baby boy and the teacher leaves the scene. He says he has to go to school in Arizona. It's not hard to see why the man got out of the picture. This goes on everyday. Men get woman pregnant and leave the scene. After this the woman stops everything and chugs a cup of water. I believe this is for the audience to have a break in what they are hearing.
Her boy, Billy, grows up and at the age 14 wants to see his father. Billy and his mom go to Arizona to meet up with the father. They meet up and everyone is excited. The father had some school function to go to and promises to come back. He doesn't come back and it makes her very upset. The purpose of Medea is that the lady kills her children to get revenge on the husband. While Billy was in the bath, by some chance the tape recorder falls into the bath tub.
