Macbeth

Roman Polanski's Macbeth was a successful film. Roman Polanski incorporated very detailed scenes with appropriate characters to form a masterpiece. The character's costumes were very suitable and very believable throughout the entire movie. The music added in the scenes increased the suspense of the film and made the mood of different scenes well known. Roman Polanski did well with editing the lines of the scenes. Even though he left a lot of lines out, the main idea being portrayed was recognizable. He removed a lot of lines and even a scene or two, but the movie still flowed smoothly. The orders of events in the book were not displayed fully in the movie, but replacement events were shown. For instance, Roman Polanski added a scene of Macbeth dreaming of Banquo and Fleance murdering him, like he did to Duncan. As well, scenes of bears being prepped for the feast were shown and scenes concerning servants, which were never included in the novel. The special effects of the movie truly improved the play. The movie showed the brutality behind wars, including all the blood and gore. It also could give an image of Macbeth following the dagger, which only he could see. Roman Polanski chose his actors and actresses fit for their roles. He was able to give the viewer a shock because the image formed in the mind, while reading the play, was not what he delivered in the movie. Nevertheless, Roman Polanski put his ideas together and they suited the play. The movie was put together well to represent Shakespeare's writings. It gave the overall idea of the play, but with the aide of modern technology to form a greater impact on the audience.
