Diff Cultures

             There are many cultures through out the world today. These cultures all have their own unique take on how we came to be today. The cultures of the Greek, Christian and Norse however have many things in common as illustrated in this essay.
             Greek culture has been passed down by word of mouth and in stories people adapted to explain things they could not. The Greeks believe that the Titans, Epimetheus and Prometheus, created all living things. When it was time for Epimetheus to create man he had run out of gifts to give. He had given out all of the attributes and man would have no chance of survival. So he went to Prometheus who took over the operation of creating man. Prometheus decided to forge man in god's image having him stand on two feet instead of four. He gave man the greatest gift he could think of which was the fire from Mount Olympus. This fire symbolized knowledge and the ability to learn. This did not please Zeus, the king of Gods. He punished Prometheus to an eternity of suffering. This shows that Greeks believed Gods had no part in creating humans and despised them having the appearance of a god.
             Christian belief, however, is greatly different from that of the Greek culture. Christians believe God created all things living and non-living. He chose that man would be the one to rule over all of his creations. God then created the first man in his image who was named Adam. Adam was created from the dust of the earth and was given life by God. He did not however want Adam to be alone. When Adam fell asleep he took one of his ribs and created Eve, the first woman. This shows that Christian belief is like the Greek culture. Both Greek and Christians believe that a higher power created them in the image of God.
