Censorship, is it necessary in society today? Some feel that all negatives should be blocked out, others feel that there should be no freedoms at all. I feel that censorship should is necessary, but in the correct areas and with limitations.
             In regards to literature, in any form, I feel that only books promoting the death of a person or group of people should be censored. For example, if Adolf Hitler's book Min Konf was censored in the country of Germany, he may not have spread his message of the destruction of the Jewish people as easily and in such large numbers. On the other hand, if Upton Sinclair's Jungle, a story about an immigrant working in the Chicago factories, had been censored, there may not have been such a radical change in the labor plants across the United States. There have been many books that have been censored that probably should not have been because if we censor all the books that some people feel are too violent, or too gruesome from people to read, then how will change ever occur? The sole reason some books are written is to promote a change in either government or in social practices; if they are censored then their points are emaciated and the books purpose is neglected.
             The censorship of movies, in my view, is proper and should be continued, on the other hand censorship of music is incorrect and should cease. The reason being is that in movies almost 90% are produced in order to entertain and generate money. The rating system, a form of censorship, was a genius decision because a nine or ten your child should not be viewing a movie that contains violence, adult language or nudity. On the other hand an adult has enough maturity to view these types of movies. The reason I feel music should not be censored is because it is a form of literature. The artist just chooses to express himself in the form of music. Many of the early musicians were poets who put music to their words.
