He made sure that the entire nation understood that there was no way his faith could convince him to shortchange his responsibility to the United States. He used his youth and vigor to his advantage, proving that he knew himself very well, as well as knowing what the general population wanted and needed in this time. Kennedy stressed the need for new ideas to jumpstart the nation into a new era and explained he was the man to lead the way. Overall Kennedy used these shortcomings to his benefit, or over shadowed them with his charisma and public speaking ability. He also won over the public with the proper use of media, he knew how to put on a good face. While he came off looking youthful and healthy, his opponent seemed old and haggard, mainly due to proper dress and the right use of makeup by Kennedy.
